Founded in 2022 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Ursana Filmes is formed by filmmakers Antonio Pedroni and Matheus Moura, and has several films in its portfolio.

Currently in distribution are AT NIGHT ALL THE CATS ARE BROWN (Matheus Moura, 2024, Brazil), selected for festivals such as the 33rd Festival Curta Cinema and the 35th São Paulo International Short Film Festival - Kinoforum; TO KILL A MAN (Orlando Mora Cabrera, 2024, Cuba), selected for festivals like the International Festival del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano, Havana, and ÍCARO - International Film Festival of Central America; BABILONYA (Duda Gambogi, 2024, Cuba/Brazil), selected for the 54th Warsaw Film Festival and the 22nd BOGOSHORTS; SONGS TO DIE IN HAVANA (María Salafranca, unreleased, Cuba) and ANBA DLO (Luiza Calagian and Rosa Caldeira, unreleased, Cuba, Brazil, Haiti).

In the final stages of post-production are the shorts ARRUDAS BOULEVARD (Matheus Moura) and OUR FRIEND ROMÁRIO (Antonio Pedroni).

With guaranteed funding after being selected by the Lei Paulo Gustavo, and production scheduled for 2025, are TAKE ME BACK TO GILBERTO (Matheus Moura) and ONE (Antonio Pedroni). The short films PROMETHEUS (Matheus Moura) and ORLANDO (Luiza Garcia) were selected for the BH nas Telas 2024 program.

The feature film project THE MESSAGE OF THE FIRE (Mariana de Melo), a partnership between the Belo Horizonte-based production companies Piranha Filmes and Ursana Filmes, participated in the 17th Nuevas Miradas Lab and won a direct pass to the Taller Líneas Argumentales at the Cine Qua Non Lab. The project also won the 2023 Lei Paulo Gustavo development grant.

The feature film project THE CLANDESTIN (Renaya Dorea) was selected for FilmAfro Cartagena 2023 (Bolívia Lab - Rally Pitch Award), reached the final stage of the APAN Negras Narrativas Lab 2024, earned an invitation to Ventana Sur 2024, and was selected for the 2nd Foro de Animación Latinoamericana y Caribeña.

Founding Partner

Producer, Director and Screenwriter

Graduated in Social Communication with a specialization in Cinema and Audiovisual from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais and certified in production at EICTV in Cuba. He participated as a Bammer at BAM - Bogotá Audiovisual Market 2023 with the Colombian feature film LA ROCA NEGRA QUE SIEMPRE ESTUVO AQUÍ.

He co-produces the feature film THE MESSAGE OF THE FIRE (Piranha Filmes and Ursana Filmes), which is in development, was selected for the 17th Nuevas Miradas, and won the Líneas Argumentales award from Cine Qua Non Lab 2024. He is also producing the feature film THE CLANDESTIN (Ursana Filmes), which was selected for FilmAfro Cartagena 2023 (Bolivia Lab - Rally Pitch Award), reached the final stage of Lab APAN Negras Narrativas 2024, was invited to Ventana Sur 2024, and was selected for the 2nd Foro de Animación Latinoamericana y Caribeña.

PURPLE DICTATORSHIP (2020), his first short film and graduation project, was selected for over 100 national and international festivals. The short was broadcast on free-to-air television by Rede Minas and acquired by the streaming platform Cardume Curtas.

His second short film, AT NIGHT ALL THE CATS ARE BROWN (2024), a Brazil-Cuba co-production, premiered at the 33rd Curta Cinema - Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival and was selected for the 47th Guarnicê Film Festival, the 35th São Paulo International Short Film Festival - Kinoforum, among others.

He produced the short film I NEVER THOUGHT THAT WILL BE LIKE THIS (Meibe Rodrigues, 2022), which was screened and awarded at major national festivals, such as the 29th Vitória Film Festival, the 46th Guarnicê Film Festival, the 25th FestCurtas BH, and others. He also produced the short films BABILONYA (Duda Gambogi, 2024), which premiered at the 64th Krakow Film Festival and was selected for the 22nd BOGOSHORTS, TO KILL A MAN (Orlando Mora Cabrera), selected for the 26th LALEEF and ÍCARO - Central American International Film Festival, SONGS TO DIE IN HAVANA (María Salafranca), and ANBA DLO (Luiza Calagian and Rosa Caldeira), which was selected for the Short Film Competition at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival - Berlinale.

Executive Producer of SEM BRAVA (Montívia). The short was funded through the BH Nas Telas 2022 grant and is in post-production.

Production Director of CELEBRAI (Maick Hannder). Produced by Bruno Greco and Jacson Dias, partners at Ponta de Anzol, the short is in post-production. He is also the Production Director of MADORNA (Higor Gomes), also from Ponta de Anzol.

Production Director of DESEJO É O NOME DO HOMEM QUE EU AMO (Lea Monteiro), a feature film by Girolando Filmes.

Currently, as a Producer, he is developing the short film ONE (Antonio Pedroni), selected by the Paulo Gustavo Law in Belo Horizonte, and ORLANDO (Luiza Garcia). As a Director, he is developing the short films TAKE ME BACK TO GILBERTO and PROMETHEUS, both already funded.

He recently filmed the short film ARRUDAS BOULEVARD, which is in post-production and scheduled to premiere in 2025.

He is a member of APAN (Association of Black Audiovisual Professionals) and co-founder of the production company Ursana Filmes.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Communication with a specialization in Cinema and Audiovisual from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais and a Technical degree in Theater, also from PUC-MG. Born, raised, and currently residing in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, with roots in Lagoa Santa.

He is the Executive Producer and Cast Preparation supervisor of AT NIGHT ALL THE CATS ARE BROWN (Matheus Moura), which premiered at the 33rd Curta Cinema - International Short Film Festival in Rio de Janeiro and was selected for the 47th Guarnicê Film Festival, Bonito CineSur 2024, and the 35th São Paulo International Short Film Festival - Kinoforum.

He is the Producer and Executive Producer of ARRUDAS BOULEVARD (Matheus Moura), which was funded through the BH Nas Telas 2023 program and is currently in post-production.

He is also the Director, Screenwriter, and Producer of OUR FRIEND ROMÁRIO, funded through the Law Paulo Gustavo - Lagoa Santa program, and it is also in post-production.

He was the Executive Producer of SEM BRAVA (Montívia), funded through the BH Nas Telas 2022 program and is currently in post-production.

He is the Production Director of CELEBRAI (Maick Hannder), a short film produced by Bruno Greco and Jacson Dias, partners of Ponta de Anzol, which is in post-production. He also assisted with Production on MADORNA (Higor Gomes), also from Ponta de Anzol.

He was the curator of the short films category at the 2023 ROTA Festival.
